Privacy Policy
In short: FullShot has no analytics, no tracking, no ads, no accounts, and no server of its own. Your screenshots are created and kept on your device and are never uploaded. The one network request it makes is an optional daily check of GitHub for a new version, which you can turn off.
1. Who we are
FullShot is a free and open-source browser extension by Mohamad Almousli (mkalmousli, the "developer"). The source code is public at github.com/mkalmousli/FullShot, so every claim here can be checked in the code.
2. Your screenshots
When you capture a page, the extension takes screenshots of the tab you chose, and only when you click the button, press the shortcut or use the area picker. The pictures are assembled in your browser. They are temporarily kept in the extension's local storage (IndexedDB) so the result page can show them. They are deleted automatically after 24 hours (checked at every capture, at browser startup and once a day) or when you uninstall the extension. They are never sent anywhere. Anything you save or copy goes only to your own downloads folder or clipboard.
Screenshots can contain whatever is on the page, including private information. Treat the saved files like any other sensitive file.
3. Settings stored locally
These are kept in your browser's extension storage (storage.local). They never leave your device and the developer cannot see them. If your browser syncs extension data, that is done by the browser, not by FullShot.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Default format, quality, scroll delay, hide-headers option, auto-download, auto-copy, file name template, maximum page height, update-check preference | Your settings |
| Latest known version number | To show "update available" |
4. Permissions and why
activeTab: lets FullShot capture the tab you are on, only after you click its button or use its shortcut.scripting: runs small helper scripts in that tab to scroll it, hide fixed headers while capturing, show the area picker, and restore the page afterwards. The scripts are bundled in the extension. No remote code is loaded.storage: saves your settings.alarms: schedules the daily update check and cleanup.
The extension has no host permissions and cannot read pages in the background. The page address and title are used to name the file and show it on the result page.
5. Network requests
The extension makes one kind of request: once a day it fetches https://api.github.com/repos/mkalmousli/FullShot/releases/latest to see whether a newer version exists. The request carries no identifier and no personal data, but GitHub, like any web server, receives your IP address and standard request headers and handles them under GitHub's privacy statement. You can turn it off in Settings → Check GitHub for new versions. With it off, the extension makes no network requests at all.
6. What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, fingerprinting or advertising.
- No upload, collection or sale of screenshots, browsing history, page content or personal data.
- No third-party code or remotely loaded scripts.
7. This website
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. We run no analytics or cookies on it. GitHub, as the host, may process visitor IP addresses and keep server logs under its own policy. The promo video may be embedded from YouTube (privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com mode), but only after you click play. Until then, no request is made to YouTube. The site links to external services (GitHub, Ko-fi) that have their own privacy practices. If you click the Ko-fi link, any donation is handled entirely by Ko-fi. The developer never sees your payment details.
8. Children
FullShot collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version and date will be published here and in the repository's history. A change that adds any data collection would require a new, clearly announced version.
