Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This policy covers al-mo.de, operated by Mohamad Almousli. It explains what data is processed when you visit, which third parties are involved and what choices you have. Analytics and advertising only run if you allow them.

Summary

Unless you allow it, this site loads nothing from Google: no analytics, no ads. If you accept, Google Analytics measures how the site is used and Google AdSense may show ads. I do not sell your data. The site's own preferences (theme, language, your cookie choice) are stored only on your device.

Who is responsible

Mohamad Almousli, operator of al-mo.de. For anything privacy-related, contact [email protected].

Hosting and server logs

The site is static and is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser type) to deliver the pages and protect them against abuse. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Downloads of apps are served directly by GitHub, which sees the request.

Cookie consent and local storage

Essential storage needs no consent and never leaves your browser. Everything else is off until you allow it. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer; withdrawing reloads the page and clears the Google Analytics cookies. Legal basis for analytics and advertising: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG).

  • Essential, in your browser's local storage: "theme-choice" (your light or dark choice), "lang-redirected" (remembers that you were already sent to your language) and "consent-v1" (your choice here).
  • Analytics, only with consent: "_ga" and "_ga_<ID>" cookies from Google Analytics, up to 2 years.
  • Advertising, only with consent: cookies from Google AdSense such as "__gads" and "__gpi", up to about 13 months.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, and Google LLC in the USA) records how the site is used: pages viewed, clicks on links and downloads, terms you type into the site's search, scroll depth, time on a page, how much of a video you watched, device and browser details, your approximate location derived from your IP address, page-speed measurements and JavaScript errors.

Data may be transferred to the USA; Google LLC takes part in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. It is kept according to the retention period set in my Analytics account (14 months at most). Google processes it under its own privacy policy.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

If you allow advertising, Google AdSense is loaded and may set cookies to show and measure ads, including ads based on your interests. Google and its partners process this data under Google's own privacy policy.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com) or, for several ad networks at once, at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.

Videos (YouTube)

Articles use a custom video player. A video can be offered from YouTube or as a direct file. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; then the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google receives your IP address and technical data. If you prefer not to, use the source badge in the player to switch to the direct file before you press play.

Fonts, images and other content

Fonts, icons and screenshots are served from this site itself. There are no requests to Google Fonts or other external font or image hosts.

Contact form and email

The contact form sends nothing to a server: it opens your email app with your text filled in. Whatever you email me, I use only to reply.

Links to other services

Following a link to Ko-fi, GitHub Sponsors, GitHub, LinkedIn, Instagram, cal.com, F-Droid, IzzyOnDroid, Uptodown or OpenAPK takes you to a service with its own privacy policy. I never see payment details you give to Ko-fi or GitHub Sponsors.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future, and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights.
